Things To Do In Melbourne

Shopping in Fitzroy

I realised I still had quite allot of photo's to still share with you all from my trip to Melbourne a few months ago. On my visit to Melbourne, Ilana made sure she took me to Fitzroy for some shopping. The shopping was amazing and the shops where all so individual and unique.

To look up a few shops in and around Fitzroy to get a feel of what is there you can click here. I found this website quite helpful.

A visit to Melbourne

Photography by See Me Everywhere

A few weeks ago I sneaked in a surprise visit to this blogger over in Melbourne! It was only for 6 days but man it was oh so worth every penny. Not only did I do some epic shopping but I discoverd that I LOVE avocado. Now perhaps the reason for that is, is that when you are pregnant everything seems to taste 100 times better than normal. I am 20 weeks pregnant in these photo's, but will share a bit more on my baby bump in the next upcoming post.

Top five things to know about Spanish fashion

shop this look here

You might think you know all there is to know about Spain – it is the Brits’ preferred holiday destination after all. However, things aren’t quite the same once you step outside of the resorts and onto the south coast.

First things first, it’s not all shorts, vests and flip flops. Fashion is an integral part of the Spanish culture with most locals carrying themselves in style – a far cry from the typical tourist!

Spain is such a fashion hotspot that many famous designers have even moved over and set up camp. So, if you’re planning a trip to Spain and plan on seeing more of this fantastic country than just the beach, here are the top five things you need to know about the local fashion.

1. Don’t wear trainers
Unless you’re hitting the gym or a few balls on the clay court, it’s wise to leave your trainers at the hotel. The Spanish don’t wear trainers for anything other than sports.

Instead, opt for a pair of comfortable sandals, such as espadrilles, which are favoured by most Spanish women. There’s emphasis on comfort too as there’s plenty of cobbled streets that will wreak havoc with the soles of your feet.

2. Wear sleeves
If you want to experience one of the trendiest Spanish cities, why not jump on a flight to Barcelona with Monarch. Here, you’ll find that both men and women dress up in the height of summer.

The temperatures will be much hotter than you’re used to, but that’s no excuse for sleeveless shirts. When visiting the sights in Barcelona, you might get refused entry unless you’re covered up – especially at the cathedral.

3. Carry a light jacket
As a tourist, you’ll likely spend all day and night out in the town or city. It seems such a waste of precious time to head back to the room to change. With that in mind, always carry a light jacket.

You’ll be very hot throughout the day but temperatures can drop when the sun goes down, so if you’re out and about you’ll appreciate having something to keep you warm.

4. Choose dark colours
When the sun starts to shine in the UK, many of us pull out our brightly-coloured clothes. However, over in Spain dark colours are much preferred. Black, navy and brown are the colours of choice but if you’re too hot, opt for neutrals.

You can wander round in your bright pink or yellow clothes if you like, but you might as well get a huge banner that reads, “I’m a tourist!”

5. Wear fitted clothes
In the height of summer it might seem like a natural choice to go for loose clothing, but it’s often frowned upon and seen as sloppy dress. Rather than baggy clothes, try to choose something a bit more fitted.

For example, rather than a flowing summer dress opt for one that clings to your figure. It’s not a problem to show off your feminine curves in Spain, as long as you’re covering your modesty!

28 Hours

I snapped some pictures on Instagram of the last 28 hours which came out rather bazaar. It seemed to be a mixtures of pineapples, pugs, rich chai late's, cherry blossoms and walking. Since Mike told me about the puppy I have been on google pretty much everyday looking at pug photo's. The end of October seems so far away to wait for this little present! Grr..

As you might have noticed on Instagram and Twitter (@polliblog) is that I sneaked in a surprize visit to Melbourne to visit Ilana & some family who I haven't seen in nine years, wowza! Times sure does fly!

Travelling To France

Travelling to France was one of those very memorable experiences I would never trade for anything in the world. In fact the entire trip in August last year was something I would want everyone in the world to experience at least once.

I realised I have hardly shared any photo's on my blog of our trip over to Europe since last year so I thought I would start sharing more over the next few months. We travelled through Italy, France and Italy was our last stop before heading back to Qatar.

If your interested in travelling and reading up on some interesting things to do and see, I recommend reading this blog.

*please note these photo's have been taken by me, so please credit me if you like to use them.

A visit to Mexico

Last week I visited Hamilton and was taken by a restaurant on Victoria street called Mexico. A relatively new restaurant to the Hamilton hub as I use to live there. My absolute favourite drink at Mexico was their virgin margaritas! They where fantastic! Next time you are in Auckland or Hamilton stop by for some lunch, you won't regret it.

The Kitchen Table Cafe

jean jacket - factorie, retro sunglasses - vintage

A few friends came to visit me here in Hawkes Bay over the weekend and I have been dying to show them Me & Mike's favourite CafĂ© called The Kitchen Table which is located in Napier, down a little hidden alley.

They have everything vintage from communal knitting needles, old fashioned board games & a delicious amount of tasty treats to choose from. They love doing things the old fashioned way which is exactly why it's a favourite of mine.

The Weekend In Wellington

We had such a lovely time away in Wellington! I can't say the same for the crazy weather however staying at The InterContinental in Wellington made all the difference. It was great seeing friends, celebrating life and splashing out on The White House!  I also got to meet a lovely reader call Amelia at The InterContinental which was such a great surprise

Once in a blue moon it's great to enjoy a bit of fine dining, and luxury! Due to not really having an anniversary last year we made a pack to enjoy this little getaway. And it was worth every penny!

Tea Time | Martha's Pantry

Awhh Wellington you have endless amounts of awesome places to eat, see and shop at ! Why don't I live there again? Oh yeah, because your weather is outrageous.

If you haven't yet found Martha's Pantry it's at the top of Cuba street. They specialize in high-teas only so make sure you go there for a slice of cake or try out their world famous  milkshakes.

Six Barrel Soda Co.

While visiting Wellington we found a cool coffee shop called  Six Barrel Soda Co. You can expect cute paper straws, tunes from The Beatles, warm and friendly staff and a "home like" atmosphere. It's of the beaten track and a bit hidden. If you do get the chance to travel to Wellington do mark this place down in your dairies as it's definitely worth a stop.

Thrifting on Cuba Street | Travel

They don't call Cuba street New Zealand's coolest street for nothing. It's home to the hipsters, thrifters, artists and lovers of vintage. You can find all sorts of treasures from clothing, interior, art and the odd instrument here or there on Cuba street, Wellington.

This might be a wild statement but I prefer Wellington to Auckland any day, without the wind of course.
