This weekend we will be having our own stall at the Fruit Bowl Craft Jam so I designed a few more prints to add to the shop. Two of these three monochrome prints will be available at the market, however all the prints that's on our Facebook page has been loaded onto our shop.

Buy handmade and local this Christmas season, I think it's a great way to give back to your community and buy ethically. Hope to see you guys there this weekend.

Scandinavian Prints | Polli Prints

At last me and mike made some time to put up our first shelf & frames. We sat till 11 at night to finish the prints and finally got them printed on Sunday. I was burning to see them up on the wall and thought I would share my new prints I designed with you. I took a few snaps of our lounge currently. I am trying to bring in the monochrome theme as much as possible with what we have got by making the cushions and prints.

* If you are interested in purchasing a print they are $30 for an A4, and if you have a paypal account you can get them on here. I only post within NZ at the moment, but I am happy to work something out for you if you would like a print. I can also custom make the letter you want in that pattern.

Make Your Own Pop Art Pet Portrait

credit

Since we have a beautiful pug called Lola who I love to photograph, I thought this tutorial is actually worth giving a go! Such a great idea, especially if you don't have the software to create something like this. I'm guessing you can be as creative as you want with this and you could even use photo's of babies, parents, girlfriends etc..how amazing it it that when you pop something into a white frame it just smartens it up as well as the room it is in.

Make Your Own Pop Art Pet Portrait

1. You will need:
Spray glue, a white frame, pink and orange paper, a photo, a photocopier and scissors

2. Cut out the photo of your pet, and photocopy it onto pink paper

3. Cut out the pink paper with your pet on it and paste it onto your orange piece of paper

4. Frame it! Finish!

How To Find Uncommon Goods For Your House

Vintage Camera Pillows

Grow your own terrarium
Honeycomb decorative accent shelf

Hooray it's the weekend at last! I get to have some "me time" and by "me time" I mean time to sit on my bum on my laptop and dream about beautiful home décor for our new house. I wasn't aware that setting up a home takes so much research and vision. We have now realised that we enjoy the "less is more" type of home and slowly but surely I have started clearing out the stuff from five years ago that just wasn't us anymore. Fortunately for us we stumbled upon UncommonGoods home décor.

One thing I didn't realise was how expensive setting up a home can be, especially if you are interested in running a theme through your house. This why we went for a more cleaner look since we have furniture from mine and Mike's flatting days, combined with my parents dining table etc.. That's why we found UncommonGoods so good because it has exactly what it says it has, unique items to make your home look fabulous.

In my online research on the newest trends, you would have noticed that the scandinavian look has taken off all over the internet stores. They seems to go for more of a natural interior environment. Things like geometrical shapes, wood & neutral colour tones, combined with with plants seem to have hit almost every Pinterest page out there it seems.

Cute terrariums filled with moss on a wooden board in an empty white room transports us back to a more natural simplistic space and time. And to be quite frank it creates more of a relaxed atmosphere as well. I have shared a few favourites of mine on here today. Initially my idea was to put the honeycomb decorative accent shelf in Leon's room for all his little books. I want the terrarium to go on my dresser because I like a bit of green in the bedroom, and it's great for improving the air quality indoors. The vintage camera cushions would go on our bed of course, they would look great with a white duvet cover. Finally we get to the caterpillar bud vase. This would look great on our kitchen table with some freshly snipped camellias in them (if you follow us on Instagram you would have noticed that I have a bit of a fetish for this beautiful flower).

I could spend hours whiling away the time on this wonderful site, filling our house full of stylish things to make it just the way I want it. I only hope my husband will one day let me make this reality!

Renovated Retro Caravan

You might have seen us share this link on our Facebook page, but I thought it was worth sharing it again for those who haven't seen it. This beautiful fully restored retro caravan is up for grabs here. Just had to share this, as I haven't seen anybody in New Zealand do this. Some people are so clever!

Floral Duvet Covers

I have been hanging out all week for this parcel to arrive at my doorstep and boy was it worth the wait. The reason why I love Joules duvet covers because when you get sick of looking at one side you just flip it over to the other side and you have a new look instantly! Pretty neat huh? The other side has minty stripes on it for a more simplistic look. I chose the ruby floral duvet cover because it goes nicely with our mint bedside cabinets and

I think little Leon loves the new duvet cover as well as he was staring at all the pretty floral colours when I first put it on. I wonder what babies must think when they see all these new patterns, colours and shapes.Lola on the other hand was up to her old tricks running up and down the hallway with all the packaging of course...gosh pugs are handwork lol !

Trending Interior Picks From Etsy

Small Geometric Faceted Wood Vase – Flower vase, Bud vase – Geometric Design, Modern Home Decor $34.34

Snowy Mountain Wooden Ring $22.50 nz

A few of my favourite interior picks from Etsy at the moment. I am trying to figure out how to keep things in our house minimal but really cool at the same time. I also have to be aware of not mixing too many colours in one room either which I find a bit hard to be honest especially if you have to work with what you got. It's always a good idea to buy neutral colours I guess. White and black is probably always safe.

I always admire Bluebird Vintage's home & Black Bird's styling abilities. It's actually harder than it seems to get your home to look as good as theirs do.

PS: LOVE THIS PLACE

It's a pug life

Jamie Kay wall decals | Horse Duvet from Joules  | Handmade poppoms

Obviously all our attention has been on Leon, but we haven't forgotten our little Lola. Man she is so full on that Mike has to take her to school with him for me to get some peace and quite here at home. It's like having two babies to deal with. If Lola isn't barking Leon awake she is either stomping all over my laptop while I feed Leon or jumping up onto the kitchen table looking for treats.

I didn't realise that pug puppies have soooo much energy which means we actually have to take her for a walk at least everyday or she will starting chewing on everything or start to dig holes in our lawn....phew! Hard work raising a child and looking after a puppy. But very rewarding at the same time.

We love you little Lola.

The Sill

In between feeding Leon and trying to make him sleep which can be rather tricky, I hopped onto
The Sill to check out all their cute little plants and pots. For those of you who have green fingers or even just enjoy a cute little cactus on your desk, do make sure you stop by and say hi and grow your love.

The Nursery

owl cushion - element eden
moses basket - farmers

We have setup most of the things in our house for the time and being. One thing we haven't done yet is putting up pictures on the walls, it feels scary poking holes into the walls. Don't ask me why but I just feel like it's almost to good to be true to be poking holes into our own house haha!

I would really like to design a wall decal for the baby room eventually (something I might have to look into sooner than later actually). I also wouldn't mind getting a cute rabbit night light and a cool rug to go into the babies room eventually. The perfect combination for a bit of mood setting.

Nesting

I'm 34 weeks pregnant now and feeling the itch to start nesting. I have been collecting images and things of what I would like our nursery to look like for a wee while now.

I have finally decided on some sort of colour scheme which will be grey's, yellow's, black's and white. I also like a forest (wooden) type of theme for the nursery which is why I included this cool wooden stump side table.

Spring Clean | Inside Our Bedroom

You havn't really heard much from me lately due to being overwhelmingly tired. I guess these are the joys of being pregnant.

Joules gave me and Mike this cool horse print duvet cover which we absolutely adore. Thanks Joules, it's nice to have a bit of colour in the room, especially with spring here!

Thrifting on Cuba Street | Travel

They don't call Cuba street New Zealand's coolest street for nothing. It's home to the hipsters, thrifters, artists and lovers of vintage. You can find all sorts of treasures from clothing, interior, art and the odd instrument here or there on Cuba street, Wellington.

This might be a wild statement but I prefer Wellington to Auckland any day, without the wind of course.

Latest Interior Designs That Will Inspire You

The good news is that those who are looking for an interior design style to suit their home and personal taste will easily find something to suit. There is a huge selection of styles out there to choose from, with many of the trends for 2013 being accessible to almost any budget.

2013 interior design trends

A number of leading interior designers have predicted some of the trends that are set to become popular throughout the year. One is that classic print fabrics will surge in popularity, replacing the plain fabrics that have been in fashion for the last few years. Designers are also predicting a move away from the minimalist kitchen, which exudes little warmth, in favor of warmer materials that give a more vintage feel. Vintage is also going to be a theme in furniture, with antiques a strong feature in many homes.

Achieving a new look

There are a number of simple ways that can give a room a lift without going to the trouble of stripping everything out. Many people forget about the windows in a room, but it is possible to create a whole new look just by carefully dressing these areas. New curtains or blinds are a great idea, but shutters are quickly becoming a top trend for 2013 and are well worth considering. They are not expensive to purchase and fit and will become a key feature of the room. Shutters are manufactured in a variety of materials, including wood, plastic and metal. Faux shutters are also worth checking out; they are cheaper than their real wood counterparts and look just as good.

A window dressed with shutters will not need any other type of embellishment. Plantation shutters are particularly popular at the moment and give a very traditional feel to any room. Individuals who want to be able to adjust the amount of light coming into the room should opt for shutters with adjustable slats. Cafe-style shutters cover around half the height of the window, which has the benefit of providing a degree of privacy while still letting in a reasonable amount of light. Alternatively, there are full height shutters, which are designed to cover the entire window.

Measuring for shutters

Anyone thinking about doing the job themselves may be wondering how to measure windows for faux shutters. The first step is to take a look at the window and determine where best to fit the shutters. They can be fitted either inside or outside the window recess. Mark where the shutter is to be located and then determine which type of frame is to be used; the choice is between L frames or Z frames. Measurements should be taken of the width and height of the window; measure in three positions for each and use the smallest one. This rule applies, no matter where the shutter is to be placed. In the case of cafe shutters, only measure up to the required point on the window, but still follow the three measurements guideline.
